Before wiring money, verify the instructions directly with a trusted closing representative using a phone number you previously obtained and independently confirmed. Do not rely on a phone number, attachment or link supplied only in a new message containing payment instructions.
Pause when instructions change
Treat unexpected changes to account details or payment instructions as a reason to stop and independently confirm the instructions. A familiar sender name or an existing email thread is not sufficient verification.
Keep sensitive information off public forms
Do not submit bank details, wire instructions, Social Security numbers, payoff statements or client documents through this website. Use the secure channel confirmed by the professionals handling your transaction.
Act immediately if something is wrong
If you suspect that a transfer has been misdirected, immediately contact your bank and trusted closing representative. Ask your bank about stopping or recalling the transfer and follow applicable fraud-reporting procedures.
